Max’s Journey Back to Health

When healing the gut changed everything
Max’s story is not a quick fix.It is a story about patience, persistence, and understanding that the body cannot heal when we only silence symptoms.
Max was adopted by a loving dog mum, Marica. From the beginning it was clear he had not lived an easy life.
He had been heavily vaccinated and frequently medicated before adoption. By the time Marica welcomed him into her home, Max was dealing with multiple chronic issues — the most visible being severe skin problems.
His coat was thin, his skin inflamed, and he lacked energy.
But what worried Marica most was his spirit.
At the park, while other dogs played and ran, Max would sit alone in a corner, withdrawn and exhausted.
The First Steps — Remove the Burden
Marica’s first goal was simple, Stop adding stress to the body.
She began by naturally deworming him and allowing his body to detoxify. He was transitioned onto a balanced raw diet to provide species-appropriate nutrition and reduce inflammatory ingredients.
Yet despite correct feeding, Max did not improve.
His weight kept dropping. His energy stayed low. The skin condition persisted.
This told us something important:
The problem was no longer just the food — the microbiome had been damaged for a long time.
When Symptoms Are Treated Instead of Causes
Several veterinary visits followed.
The raw diet was blamed.Steroids and Apoquel were prescribed.
These medications temporarily reduced symptoms, but Max worsened overall. His digestion deteriorated and the dysbiosis deepened.
Suggestions escalated:
switch to an insect diet
remove fruits and vegetables
suppress the immune system further
But nothing addressed the root cause.
His body was not reacting randomly — it had lost microbial balance.
The Turning Point — Restoring the Microbiome
As a last resort, Marica decided to rebuild what had been destroyed:
the gut ecosystem itself
We introduced daily fecal microbiome capsules.
The first month showed no improvement.
This is the point where many owners stop.
But rebuilding a microbiome is not like giving a drug —it is like restoring a forest after a wild fire.

Then the Changes Began
After the first month:
the skin slowly started improving
appetite increased
weight gain began
Over the following months, the transformation continued.
Energy returned. The coat thickened. The inflammation resolved.
Six months later, Max was no longer the withdrawn dog sitting alone.
He ran.He played.He socialised.
He became a dog again.
What This Case Teaches Us
Max did not heal because of one product or one food.
He healed because:
the burden was removed
appropriate nutrition was provided
the microbiome was rebuilt
and most importantly — time was allowed
Healing chronic damage is slow biological repair, not symptom suppression.
The Most Important Ingredient: Patience
The first month showed no results. Many would have stopped.
But the body heals in layers:
Stabilise
Rebuild
Restore
Thrive
